Bailey Bridge Change Over

Big effort from our team at Waikare Gorge, SH2 Napier–Wairoa, working alongside Downer to replace the temporary Bailey bridge installed after Cyclone Gabrielle.

Using our LG1550 and Grove GMK6300L, the team carried out a complex tandem lift to remove the old bridge and install a new prefabricated steel Acrow bridge.

The project came with big challenges – remote access, tight site conditions, engineered crane pads on the edge of the river, 24hr road closures, and carefully coordinated transport logistics.

Thanks to a dedicated day and night shift crew, the bridge replacement was safely completed in just 2 days.
