SCC Awarded Contract for Kapuni Wind Farm

We’re proud to announce that Smith Crane and Construction has been awarded the crane and installation contract for the Kapuni wind farm and green hydrogen production plant in South Taranaki.

This landmark project will see the installation of four Vestas V162-6.4 MW turbines, each with a hub height of 125 metres and an impressive tip height of 206 metres. Together, the turbines will deliver a combined capacity of 25.6 MW, generating approximately 100 GWh of renewable energy each year - enough to power around 24,000 homes.

Kapuni is set to become New Zealand’s first large-scale project integrating wind energy and hydrogen, marking a major step forward in the country’s clean energy future.

SCC looks forward to playing a key role in this project, delivering the assembly and installation of all four turbines.
