Lift of the Year 2025: Hangar 4 - Auckland Airport

Smith Crane and Construction was proud to win the 2025 Lift of the Year award for the lifts completed at the Hangar 4 project in Auckland

The LTR11200 was positioned on a purpose-built base platform constructed above the wooden trusses, providing a stable working area for crane operations. The crane would carefully tracked backwards along the platform after each lift, repositioning for the next truss lift. This innovative approach minimized disruption to the structure and site works, increase lifting efficiency, and upheld high safety standards throughout the operation.

Specialized tools were employed, including crane towers for lift support, digital tilt meters for precise monitoring, and custom spreader bars designed for the 8-point rigging system.
